CURLBOX UNBOXING
Its that time of the month ladies... NO! not THAT time silly...
If your natural, a professed product junkie, and on any social network then you already know -- CURLBOX BABY!!!!!!!!!
JANUARY CURLBOX
Even with my protective style still installed I am excited about this box. Soooooooooooo lets get started
The mag card is super cute -- it is my dream that @myleik and the @curlbox crew will see me on instagram and pick me for one if their covers *squeals* I can just imagine it now. Anyway, honey is serving on the cover and the inside tells all about the products
IN THIS BOX:
- Evolve 100% boar bristle brush
- Elentee soy organics twist & lock gel
- Oyin Handmade hair dew
- Cream of Nature argan oil perfect edges
- Cream of Nature argan oil intensive condtioning treatment
- Cream of Nature argan oil sulfate free shampoo
- Mizani true textures curl soft leave-in creme
FIRST: I already purchased and tried the Cream of Nature products because my mom kept raving about them; those are gonna go in the stash box for emergencies or when my thieving cousins come over looking for things to try. I like them all but the star of the show is the Cream of Nature perfect edges -- that stuff is the truth.com! slick edges without crunch or that nasty greasy look some edge controls leave behind.
UP NEXT: Oyin Handmade hair dew -- super happy about this product! It says "This lightweight, daily hair quenching lotion refreshes like a morning mist! Great to use on just - cleansed hair, or as a way to reinvigorate tired hair."
OYIN HANDMADE HAIR DEW.. 2OZ SAMPLE
I went online to check out the ingredients and they are..
purified water, Castor oil, olive oil, organic aloe vera gel, behentrimonium methosulfate (emulsifier), coconut oil, olive squalane, optiphen (preservative), cetyl alcohol, fragrance, and love!
So for all of you curlies following the curly girl method and want to stay away from cones this product line could be for you. Check out the site for full product information www.oyinhandmade.com
I am going to use this on my leave out RIGHT NOW and if I fall in love then I will order after I take my hair out -- expect a full review!
AND THEN WE HAVE: Elentee soy organics twist and lock gel!
ELENTEE SOY ORGANICS TWIST & LOCK GEL
LET ME BE CLEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE IS NOTHING ORGANIC ABOUT THIS PRODUCT.... OK! OK! OK! It has water in it -- water is organic.. If you are a natural who stays away from silicone's -- this is not the product for u! If you are a natural who tries to at least be able to pronounce every ingredient in your product -- this is not the product for u! If you are a natural who does not like glycerin -- I repeat this is not the product for u!
The ingredient list reads something like this -- water, science stuff, science stuff, silicone, silicone, glycerin, yadda yadda yadda yadda
I would not normally try this but since most of my hair is braided and the only hair I have to play with is my leave out right now I will give this a twirl. All of these cones could be cool for "shine", laying down fly aways, and overall hold since it is a gel!
OH! THE BRUSH!
I don't use styling tools.. I am a finger detangling kind of girl and the only time I ever need a brush is for ponytails but this brush will replace my old one.. The 100% boar bristles are much better for my hair than that plastic junk I have under the cabinet now!
Next month is the curlbox 1st birthday and if you aren't on the list I'm sure that would be an awesome box to get -- I will come back and let you know if they open up the list anytime this month so you can get in on the madness! As always follow them on instagram at @curlbox or the CEO @myleik and check out their website curlbox.com
C you girls after I've tried some of these things!
Stay blessed..

IS IT JST A BLK THING???
I posted this pic on Instagram and got some unexpected feedback.. To paraphrase, the emails went something like this...
"Who is this white girl"
"Why would you glorify someone stealing "our" look"
"That puff ain't even real"
I must have missed the memo that celebrating natural hair and its versatility was only a black girl thing. I am fully aware that this isn't her hair; and perhaps her Caucasian texture could not produce such an AWESOME PUFF but that doesn't take away from how awesome that puff is.
Nobody stops you from rocking Malaysian virgin Remi silky 32' weaves when you want! Instead of hating, why not celebrate that a designer decided to forgo the sleek ass length ponytail for some texture! YOUR TEXTURE!
The natural hair "movement" is not about color -- it is about empowering women to love what they were born with naturally.. Black women, White women, Spanish women, the Lil green alien women -- it shouldn't matter.
What message are we sending our daughters? What about the Caucasian curlies? The mixed chicks? Us curly girls have got to do better.. If you cant do better then do me a favor a keep that mess out my inbox!
Love ya!

SAME GIRL DIFFERENT HAIR REVIEW
The long awaited review is finally here ladies!!!!!!!
Today makes one month since my hair was installed. I wanted to wait at least a month before I reviewed it so I could have washed it a few times and styled it and give you girls a really thorough review and the time has finally come..
I FREAKING LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THIS HAIR! LOVE...
I ordered the 3 bundles 22' 24' 26' and quite honestly I am not about that Rapunzel weave life. I didn't like the harsh contrast between my leave out and the weave; the layers weren't defined enough so my dominican stylist Olga layered the hell out of this hair! After it was done I thought that we could have left the hair a little longer but for every day life this length is perfect.
So it was installed and then Olga chopped and screwed it for me and the rest is history..
REGIMEN??? STYLING??? NIGHT TIME ROUTINE???
I rake the product through and go about my bizness! The curl/wave pattern is so pretty and it matches my leave out so nicely that I don't have to do too much to it.
If I want a little more hold I will add some Ecostyler olive oil gel.
STYLING:
I've kept it simple so far, nothing too crazy, but I did buy a curling wand and I put some curls in it the first couple days after my install. Tonight Im gonna try flexi rods and c how that turns out!

REGIMEN??? STYLING??? NIGHT TIME ROUTINE???
- I wash with Kinky Curly come clean shampoo
- I condition with whatever is handy -- right now its Alba honeydew nourishing hair conditioner
- leave-in of choice is Mixed Chicks leave-in or Giovanni direct leave-in

Before & After
Spiral Curls
Serving in my PJ's
NIGHTTIME ROUTINE:
Two braids or two twists and my satin bonnet. I unravel and separate. SIMPLE!
Someone is gonna ask about shedding -- very minimal
Someone is gonna ask about luster -- it has a realistic healthy hair shine to it
Someone is gonna ask if I would purchase again -- HELL YEA! I'm already planning my birthday hair
Someone is gonna ask where they can get this hair -- www.samegirldifferenthair.com
Well ladies thats it.. A month in and I am still in love with my hair.. Let me know if you have purchased from them and what your experience was like

DECEMBER CURLBOX & COUPONS!!!!!!
Blogging live and direct from my bed.. I've been M.I.A for three weeks and I have to get these posts out before the end of the year!
Lemme tell you curlies about my DECEMBER CURLBOX!!!! Oh Em Gee loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it!
Lemme tell you curlies about my DECEMBER CURLBOX!!!! Oh Em Gee loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it!
DECEMBER CURLBOX
This month @myleik and the @curlbox crew have out done themselves..
In the box:
- Super DOPE 8pg mag card
- Elasta QP olive oil and mango butter moisturizer
- Eco styler olive oil gel
- Dr. Miracles Curl Care Soft hold creme
- Isabella's Own - "Fix my Fro" curl cream (4 samples)
- Lustrasilk Curl Max - curl activator Moisturizer (2 samples)
- Shea Moisture - Moisture retention shampoo (sample)
- Nubian Heritage - strengthen and grow hair treatment masque
I've already used and have fallen in love with the Elasta QP moisturizer -- It smells like heaven and even my weave hair responds to it!
If you have used Eco styler than you already know that this gel is the truth but if you put it on top of the Elasta QP moisturizer you have an OFFICIAL B.A.C. (Bomb Ass Combo)
Idk what it is about these two but they are a match made in natural hair heaven.. They work so well together that I have kinda neglected everything else in my hair cabinet! The gel provides hold and frizz control while the moisturizer ummmmmmmm moisturizes! Its the BOMB!
OH! One other new love from this box is the FIX MY FRO curl cream.. I haven't been using it in the traditional sense but I have been spraying in between my tracks with water and then "greasing" my scalp with the curl cream -- it is very light so I don't have to worry about it weighing my weave down or looking greasy but it gives my scalp enough love that I don't have to worry about dry hair underneath the weave..
Before I forget..
You curlies still have a couple days to use these coupons before they expire DECEMBER 31, 2012

J.B.C.O. HAIR CHALLENGE UPDATE
Morning loves,
I know its been foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr since my last post -- please don't be too mad but a sistah had some issues!
Anyway, 1st I hope your Christmas was amazing!!!!!!!!
Now back to the subject at hand -- this CASTOR OIL HAIR CHALLENGE I signed up for at the beginning of the month *pause for emphasis*
*side eye* y'all I am doing terrible! TERRIBLE!! LOL! I haven't kept up with the regimen, I haven't signed in on kinkcurlycoilyme.com in AT LEAST three weeks -- like I totally suck at this hair challenge!
Now let me tell you girls what my issues are with the challenge. I have this weave in (stay tuned for a review and update) and I don't wet my hair that often -- I still co-wash at least once a week but that is usually the only time I wet my hair soooooooooooooooo WHEN THE HELL AM I GOING TO SEAL WITH CASTOR OIL IF THERE IS NO INITIAL MOISTURE??????? And another thing, they send that check-in email very very very early Saturday morning -- ain't nobody got time to wipe to crust out their eyes and think about Castor oil! I look at the email, read it and then I go back to sleep - I never remember to go back on the site and actually answer the ?s in the damn email! I need a reminder for my reminder.. LOL! I'm so frustrated with myself over this damn challenge
There is a bright side.
This week while I was co-washing my hair I filled my spray bottle with water, leave n conditioner and a bit of Castor oil and just went in between my tracks for some extra love and attention.. That's when I got the bright idea to just do that 3x a week -- it fulfills my hair challenge requirement, gives my own hair the love it needs AND I don't have to completely drench my head in the middle of a NY winter -- OH YEA I'M WINNING!
So I'm back on track! I will be checking in on the KCCM website this week and I'll let y'all know how everything turns out after a week -- pray for me..
HAVE YOU BEEN KEEPING UP WITH THE CHALLENGE??
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR ISSUES??

HAIR CHALLENGE!!!!!!!!
CHECK CHECK CHECK IT OUT...
It is December 1st and everyone is in that holiday "new year new me" mode and with that comes new challenges.
A few weeks ago I signed up for a Castor Oil 3 month hair challenge with kinkycurlycoilyme.com it started today and will run until March 1st. You ladies still have time to sign up and register for the challenge if your interested!
I know for me, I want the most awesome curly fro I can possibly handle and taking really good care of it is a part of that.
So the challenge consist of checking in weekly for questions and feedback with other naturals AND committing yourself to using Castor Oil at least three times a week during the three months.
BUT WHY CASTOR OIL??? Y THIS CHALLENGE???
Castor Oil is an excellent humectant for skin and hair. It helps with thinning hair and hair loss, and it prevents dry scalp.
I will be using Jamaican Black Castor Oil during this challenge for 2 reasons..

Castor Oil is an excellent humectant for skin and hair. It helps with thinning hair and hair loss, and it prevents dry scalp.
I will be using Jamaican Black Castor Oil during this challenge for 2 reasons..
- I already have it in my cabinet
- This form of Castor Oil is raw and has kept most of its good stuff!
I still plan to weave up my natural hair some time in the next few weeks so that may prove to be a challenge for keeping up with the Castor Oil..
Right Now..
I am sealing my ends with my Castor Oil Mix
Massaging my scalp & edges
Pre-Poo'ing with a hot oil mix
After my install..
I can probably keep up with the last two from above but I have to come up with another use for it UNLESS I spritz with water and oil in between my tracks for extra moisture and sealing at the same damn time!
HERE IS MY CASTOR OIL MIX:
CASTOR OIL
OLIVE OIL
ROSEMARY OR LAVENDER (for smell)
Use equal parts of everything and shake! TA-DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!
I will check in with you dolls as often as possible and keep you up to date on the progress
